The idea, he explains is to get the end user to use the system. If it's too hard or too restrictive, then end users will always find ways to work around the system to the detriment of the CMS. It will be interesting to see as the SharePoint 2010 beta goes into wider use, and use cases emerge, how well Microsoft has solved this perennial issue."

There are many promises on what SharePoint will deliver; however, have those promises become a reality in your organization? The answer may be the key to why your colleagues, employees, and end users use SharePoint or create work-arounds to avoid taking the time to understand it.

Outlook 2003 is a full MAPI Client which uses RPC to communicate with the Exchange Server. This is definitely not Firewall friendly so Microsoft developed a technology called RPC over HTTPS. Using RPC over HTTPS, RPC packets will be tunnelled through HTTPS so you only need to open the HTTPS Port on the Firewall.

Exchange 2007 has changed the name from RPC over HTTPS to Outlook Anywhere but the technique is the same.

Espra Trustmap :: API –

xmlvm – The goal of XMLVM is to offer a flexible and extensible cross-compiler toolchain. Instead of cross-compiling on a source code level, XMLVM cross-compiles byte code instructions from Sun Microsystem's virtual machine and Microsoft's Common Language Runtime. The benefit of this approach is that byte code instructions are easier to cross-compile and the difficult parsing of a high-level programming language is left to a regular compiler. In XMLVM, byte code-based programs are represented as XML documents. This allows manipulation and translation of XMLVM-based programs using advanced XML technologies such as XSLT, XQuery, and XPath.
