New release that addresses a few things discovered by Tweetly Updater users:

• Useless (or even misleading) @ character in posts
• Redundant utf-8 encoding of twitter messages

Thanks to everyone for using my plugin and the constructive input!

This release fixes a few bugs with option names and detection of already published posts. The generated bit.ly url is now saved in the custom field “tweetlyUpdater_bitlyUrl”, this field is used by the plugin to differentiate between old and new posts.

Because of various changes in the twitter and bit.ly api Tweetly Updater was completly broken. This should be fixed in the new 1.1.0 release.

I released a Wordpress plugin that updates Twitter when you create or edit a blog entry, it uses the bit.ly service for short urls.

The first release 1.0.0 has the basic features of updating twitter and url shortening, in future releases I will add support for the additional info that bit.ly stores (Example) for submitted URLs.

I started a firefox extension project. The bit.lyff addon enables you to shorten URLs from the context menu using the URL-shorten service bit.ly. Additionally you can display bit.ly specific information about a web page, like mirror or thumbnail URLs.
